The four phases of the moon

PHASE ONE: between a new moon and the first quarter. Time to plant leafy crops.

PHASE TWO: between the first quarter and a full moon. Time to plant fruit crops.

PHASE THREE: between a full moon and the last quarter. Time to plant root crops and perennials.

PHASE FOUR: between the last quarter and a new moon. A good time to prune and weed. As the moon is waning, the water table is receding, so it is not a good time for planting.

A journal showing the phases of the moon will help you to plan and manage lunar gardening.
